The front page is the first and most visible page of a newspaper. It usually contains the biggest news stories of the day in the country where it is circulated. A good front-page will also tease other important stories inside the edition.
Three anonymous Jane Does who had been sex trafficked as minors sued Backpage in 2014, accusing it of facilitating sex trafficking through its advertising and business practices. The district court ruled against the plaintiffs, and they appealed to the First Circuit Court of Appeals. The appeals court ruled that Backpage’s editorial activities and design of its website constituted traditional publisher functions with respect to third-party content, shielded by CDA Section 230. Consequently, the court did not grant any relief to the three Jane Does. Backpage later changed its name to Village Voice Media and re-established itself as an online classifieds site. It is now the second-largest online classifieds site in the United States.
