Daily update is a phrase that describes the activity of updating something on a daily basis. It can refer to a daily report, daily status, or a daily activity checklist.
For example, GitHub has good support for checking off items on a daily basis: it’s easy to track progress on a specific task and close the issue at the end of the day. A daily update can also be a private personal checklist that people use to keep track of what they need to do each day.
Daily updates are a great way to keep users engaged with your Action. They’re a type of notification that can be displayed on a user’s phone or other device. When configured, these notifications can prompt the user to subscribe to your daily updates. When they do, their Action will invoke one of your intents that you’ve configured as a daily update and automatically start sending them the updates each day. To configure an Action with daily updates, open it in the Actions console and click Develop in the top menu. Then select Intents in the left menu and add a new daily update subscription flow to your Action’s user intent handling section. To test your daily updates, invoke the Action and then check the device’s notifications around the time of day you want to be updated. If you find that the notifications aren’t useful, consider adjusting the timing of your daily updates or adding a registration prompt mid-conversation or as a suggestion chip.
